Independence Part 1

Either the kids don't need us as much as we needed our parents when we are of same age as them or we are just getting old and feeling needy of their attention.

Angel, our 17 year old, went to the University of Manitoba campus yesterday. She brought her sisters with her to tour them around (I guess it is a good idea to get them excited about college as well). She managed to advance to university a year ahead of her peers. She told me the other day that she has no choice but to wait for 4 years to finish B.S. Nursing. If she pursued Lakehead University, she can be done in 3 years. I am shaking my head at this point, saying: "At least, we are together. I can still take care of you!". Oh boy I'm glad she did not insist in going to Thunderbay, Ontario :-)

She wanted to do everything on her own, whatever she is allowed. When as for me, I remember after my high school grad, I have been wanting to ask Nanay to accompany me to the University of the Philippines to enrol but she wanted to teach me independence so I had to figure things out on my own. Public transportation from Marikina to Manila is a long way then. Maybe that's the reason why I ended up enrolling in Baguio City instead. LOL.

So independent that she managed to accumulate enough scholarship money that we didn't need to talk to our banker to withdraw her RESP funds. Hooray for her younger sis, she can have more funds in hers!

I love you my Angel...thank you for your hard-work and for inspiring me and your siblings ....

That's worth a Master's Angler certificate!
